INTRODUCTION – PART I
Welcome To the Real World!
There is no doubt in my
mind that most of you who read what is written in Part I of this book, already
feel (many of you rather strongly) that you have a fairly good understanding of
how things work in the United States, why things are the way they are and what
is needed to fix the problems (if you perceive any problems). Many of you will initially reject what you
read in one or both parts of this book and some will reject it simply because
the content doesn’t fit what you have been taught from childhood. Some may reject it in part or totally because
they will believe that much of it appears to them to be too liberal and some
may do the same because they believe that much of it appears to them to be too
conservative. I know these things
because that all applied to me more than thirty years ago when I first began to
become aware of the information that you will read here. I rejected it then as a great many of you
will now, but I did not close my mind to some possibility that there might be a
few shreds of truth in there somewhere, so, as time went by, I watched very
carefully with even more of an open mind, what was happening and I began to
analyze what I observed to a much greater degree than I had bothered to do so
in the past. Gradually, over a period of
time, I began to see and to realize that there was far more than a few shreds
of truth in the information I had learned.
It actually was the way things really worked. All I am asking you to do is keep an open
mind, pay attention to what you see going on in the country and in the world
around you and see if it doesn’t begin to add up to that which will be called
to your attention here. If you will do
only that much to meet me half-way, many of you will find that what you learn
here will strike a chord within you and will ring more and more true as you
watch and analyze further, over time.
There are others who will find that it is more of a stretch than they
are ready to make at this time. For
those of you who are ready to know more now, I will say: “Welcome to the real
world.”

PART I - CHAPTER 1
Understanding The True Nature Of
Politics And Reality In the
Wrong thinking
in specific areas of great importance have separated and polarized us
politically as a people and as a nation, almost to the point of being
irreparable. This fact is true not only
for The
Two
political parties totally dominate American politics today. In other countries, there may often be more
than two political parties, but two often tend to be dominant. In many ways,
they appear, on the surface, to differ significantly in ideology in that those
who see themselves as conservatives generally consider themselves, in the
United States, to be represented by the Republican Party while those in the
United States who see themselves as more moderate or even as liberals,
generally consider themselves to be represented by the Democratic Party. For the purposes of this (Part I) portion of
our book, since the author lives in the United States and is more familiar with
that country and its politics and issues, we will focus our attention there,
but the basic concepts involved are likely to hold true for a number of other
countries and their political parties and issues, just as they do in the United
States. That is, of course, an
oversimplification of politics in the
There have
been many significant changes in
There have
always been serious fundamental disagreements perceived between the two sides,
but in the past, those in each Party at the top levels of government usually
managed to work through their differences in such a way, that at least on the
surface, it appeared that there was a certain level of civility that existed
between them. Today however, I find that
even the perception of that kind of civility has deteriorated to the point
that, far too often, there is little more than a pretense of its
existence. In this environment, there
has come into politics an atmosphere such that too many of our politicians and
political pundits seem predisposed to extreme
partisanship. The more partisan the
politics, the more name-calling that takes place, the more dirty tricks that
are successfully carried out or the more vicious the personal attack, then the
more that many of those who seem predisposed to such behavior, seem to revel in
it. The news media, while struggling to appear indifferent, actually encourages
this kind of combative partisanship at every opportunity because the more extreme
the situation, the more “newsworthy” it becomes; translation: the more they can
profit by a highly increased level of following from a more interested public,
so, far too often, the media, as already indicated, encourages or at times,
even tries to create this kind of combative partisanship and then they continue
to repeat the story over and over again until the number of viewers begins to
drop or until the next big story breaks.
You will
see as we proceed that there are many
important reasons why I have decided to become involved and to call these
matters to your attention in the very direct way that I have in this
document. Let me point out the two basic
reasons (in the next two paragraphs) why I became involved. Some of you will be amazed at what you will
read here. Many of you will have grave
doubts about it and many will be amused or angered at what you will likely feel
is my going “over the top” in my analysis.
Nevertheless, as earlier stated, for those who are open-minded enough to
give it fair consideration and who are willing to take the time to put together
the points being made and add them up, many of you will come to see that it
really does make sense, given all that has transpired and all that is currently
happening. If it does not make sense to
you now, rest assured that as time passes, you will become aware that there are fair-minded individuals in and out
of government who believe in justice and who have access to proof of what I am
describing, and who will eventually find a way to make their information public and
verify much, if not all of what is being said here.
First, let
me say that among the problems that we face as a country today, there are
several that I consider to be the most polarizing because they are so
inflammatory to people’s emotions. I
want to mention them now and then later, consider each in greater detail. The
fires that are burning so hot around these very serious matters of disagreement
are still so intense because, in far too many cases, the two sides have reached
this state of intensity based on the fact that one side or the other or both
have approached these problems from a foundation with a faulty premise;
nevertheless the media continue to fan the flames because the hotter the fire,
the more profit there is for them in the story.
These areas of difference are religion, abortion, the gay and lesbian community, race,
evolution, gun control, taxes, national defense and labor unions. Although many of you will know of others that
you feel are also important, these are the ones we will consider here. The
first four involve those areas of social concern that have been the cause of a
very great deal of misplaced anger and hate, which have resulted from the
subtle but clever use (by those who exercise considerable control) of the
divisive (divide and conquer) politics of anger and hate. Those four areas of concern (as indicated),
and the others mentioned, will be considered here individually at greater
length, but very importantly, they will
need to be considered in that light, meaning that they need to be considered in light of the fact that people and organizations of great wealth and influence have been, and continue doing everything in their power to use these areas of disagreement to divide us as a people in order to facilitate maintaining their disproportionate levels of control and/or influence over important decisions and legislation that affect the Country and its people.
Secondly,
there has been a growing trend which, by now has come to be a headlong rush, over the
last eight years and (as much as they are able) even under the first year (and beyond) of the new
administration, for the leadership in the conservative movement (as instruments
of the extremely wealthy elite) to continue their efforts to implement a very partisan conservative
political agenda (which continues to place ever higher profits over the needs of the people) as the permanent law of the land in America. This must not be allowed to happen.
These two
basic reasons that I became involved, are inexorably intertwined, because the
four primary areas of concern mentioned: religion, abortion, the gay and lesbian community and
race are being skillfully used, along with the other subjects mentioned above,
as tools by those at the top of the heap (in wealth, power and politics), and
they have had a great deal of practice in using the politics of division and
hate to divide the rest of us as a means to permanently install their conservative political
agenda as the law of our land. Through
mis-information and by exercising influence and sometimes even control over the
media, they have managed to mis-inform a substantial portion of an otherwise honest and well-meaning
electorate as their allies. It is my
hope that by the time you have completed reading Part I of this document, you
will have a much better understanding of what is really happening in our country, and why.
This extreme partisanship has been seen, to one degree or
another by others besides this author.
Perhaps you will remember that during the last few years of the
George H. W. Bush administration, quite a number of elected officials from both sides
of the aisle, who had been in politics at a national level, were, one by one,
beginning to retire from their respective Congressional and Senate offices that
they had actively held, some for many years, because the nature of politics,
their profession, had changed to the extent that it had become much too extreme
and too fiercely partisan. Most
of them felt that they were seeing too much anger, too much name-calling, too
much partisan animosity manifesting in vicious attacks directed toward the
opposition and not enough of doing the work necessary to benefit the people
directly, and they no longer wanted to be a part of it. Sadly, for the same reasons,
this has, once again begun to take place from those on both sides of the aisle, during the current Administration, elected in 2008.
Those who are at the top of the heap (in
wealth, power and politics) have, over a great many years, been able to create
an environment of combativeness wherein we find the Republicans against the
Democrats, the whites against the people of color, the Christians against the
non-Christians (and even against themselves via the differences within the many
denominations), and from time to time over a number of years, even the men
against the women. Many of the more
influential conservatives, over the years have been successful, often in very
subtle and sophisticated ways, to make the word “liberal” receive the same
reaction from “polite company” as it might if it were a “four letter word”,
while many liberals have made similar efforts to discredit the conservative
point of view, but with far less success.
When we are finished here, you will see that the political leadership (of both major parties) is
very skilled at playing “good cop, bad cop” with the public. When the public becomes notably unhappy with
an administration in power, then that party tends to take on the roll of the
“bad cop” in the eyes of much of the electorate while the other party, the
“good cop” shows up describing themselves as being on “your side” and being
ready to make “change” that will fix everything… you know the story, but there
are rarely any truly significant changes.
Do we have universal free or low cost health care or free higher
education, or thirty days paid leave per year, or a truly decent living wage,
or a respectable minimum wage or teacher’s salaries that attract only the
best? You know that the answer to every
one of those questions is no
regardless of the party in power!
